Bon retour! Welcome back!

Welcome back after a well-deserved Spring break! I am looking forward to another successful, fun and productive term.

Reminder: please send the report card envelope back to school with your child.

Dictée: We are back into routine and have a new dictée for this week. The pre-test will be on Wednesday (as always, unless otherwise noted), which is not worth marks. The post-test or real test will be on Friday.

Bake Sale Results

The results are in....We raised $115.06 from our Bake Sale on Friday, February 25th. A big thank you to all of you who baked, help your children bake, or supported the effort! THANK YOU!

Advisory 42 and 43 will be starting another fundraiser after Spring Break. It's called  "Lundi à la Grecque." We will be offering Greek food on Mondays. A notice went home with your child on Friday regarding this fundraiser.

Pink T-Shirt Day and Bake Sale

Chers élèves, et chers parents,

    It has been a while since my last post. I apologize if you have been checking in on the blog faithfully to find nothing new.  As you know the last few weeks have been busy as usual. Do continue to check in regularly as I hope to post homework and reminders more regularly.

Students: feel free to add comments at the end of posts if I have forgotten a reminder or a homework item.

What's new?
  • Pink T-Shirt Day- wear  pink to support anti-bullying this Wednesday, February 23rd
  • Bake Sale- our first fundraiser to offset the cost of Cirque du Soleil will be held at lunchtime this Friday, February 25th. Send a tray of cookies or cupcakes, muffins or scones, anything yummy that we could sell would be much appreciated!:)  miam-miam délicieux!!!
  • Festival de la Fracophonie-L'atelier du tambour- Friday, March 11th, our class, along with the other French Immersion classes, are going to the Francophone Festival and Drumming Workshop. Your child should have given you a form and permission slip to sign. Forms need to be returned asap!
  • Concours d'art oratoire- Speech Competition (School level, District, National)- Our class is writing speeches and will be holding a competition to see which three students go to the district level competition. This year's District Concours will be held on Thursday, April 7th at 7pm at Victoria High School. There is a category for Late French Immersion 6 and 7, so your child will be able to compete with other students at the same level.
  •  Bazan Bay 5K- the after-school Run-Walk Club will be running 5 km in Sidney Sunday, March 6th. If you are a runner yourself and would like to come out to support Lansdowne's school spirit, join us!  You can register yourself online or by downloading the registration form at:  http://www.vira.bc.ca/default.aspx?PageID=1002   
Or come cheer us on at the finish line and along the race course!!!

Learning:
Yes, we do a lot of this too!
  • Grade 6 and 7 students are working on their speech for Concours.  
  • Weekly Dictées- Every Monday, students are now receiving their Dictée on a small piece of paper, which each student clips inside his/her agenda. Every Wednesday, we will do a pre-test. Every Friday, students will have the 'post-test,' or the dictée that counts for marks. 
  • Français langue- grade 6s are working on Passé Composé (the past tense). Students should finish the new worksheet on Etre and Avoir  in the Passé Composé by Wednesday, February 23rd.
  • Français langue-grade 7s are reading the book, 'Le Petit Nicolas.' We are about half-way through. We plan to watch the newly released film in French when we have finished reading this book.

New Books at Lansdowne!

Hey Parents,

  I am excited to inform you that we have just received a huge shipment of levelled readers, both fiction and non-fiction, specifically for Late French Immersion. They will soon be ready to for student use! Just another way to encourage our students to read in French!
